What are cleansing grains?
Cleansing grains are powdered blends of clays and botanical ingredients such as herbs, nuts, and seeds. Sometimes called "buffing grains", they are used on their own or in addition to your favorite facial wash to gently cleanse and exfoliate your skin. Depending on the formula, cleansing grains may also be used as a facial mask, making them an ideal solution for anyone who loves the ease of 2-in-1 products.
Wunder Budder cleansing grains are a blend of fine mineral clays, freshly ground flowers, ground seeds, and specially blended essential oils. Handmade, they are shipped and stored dry, and can be used as both a face scrub for refreshing dull skin and as a purifying facial mask to reduce the appearance of pores.
How do I use cleansing grains?
Cleansing grains are mixed fresh before use as an exfoliating cleanser or facial mask. For best results, use Wunder Budder cleansing grains both ways at once:
Take approximately 1/2 teaspoon of cleansing grains (use a dry spoon or tap it from the bottle) and put it into your cupped hand, or scoop into a tiny mixing bowl. Add water slowly, just a few drops at a time, and stir until you form a paste.
Massage the freshly mixed face cleanser onto your face in a circular motion, carefully avoiding your eyes and mouth. Use gentle pressure, letting the grains do the work instead of your fingers. Leave on for 1-2 minutes before rinsing (it doesn't need to dry in order to work), or rinse immediately after scrubbing to use as an exfoliant only.
To avoid getting cleansing grains in your eyes, use a damp washcloth to remove grains first, and then splash clean water over your face several times. Always be sure to rinse well.
What makes cleansing grains better than a pre-blended scrub?
Choosing a dry product you can blend at home means it's completely customizable to your skin and your routine. You can create the perfect consistency for you by adjusting the amount of water you prefer. Add just a little bit of water for a face mask, or a little more water for a scrub. Add a few drops of a carrier oil, such as jojoba or olive, for extra moisturizing power during the dry months. Add a little of your morning coffee or tea for extra toning from the tannins. Add a few drops of liquid castile soap if you like to cleanse with bubbles.
Not only can you completely customize your skincare routine, with cleansing grains, you always have the freshest possible facial cleanser, because you mix it yourself (don't worry, it only takes about a minute).
Because it is a concentrated dry product, there is no need for fillers or preservatives. A concentrated product also means less packaging (and less waste).
Is there anything else I need to know about cleansing grains?
Since Wunder Budder cleansing grains do not contain preservatives, that they must be stored dry, at all times (bacteria love a wet environment). Water should only be added just before using them.
